Deprivation in Canonbury and Islington
Since the Friends of the Rose Bowl was formed, the physical space in the New River Estate has changed greatly, but unfortunately the level of deprivation and poverty has not. The borough of Islington has the second highest level of child poverty in the UK – 49% of Islington’s children live in poverty.
The area around the Rose Bowl is in the top 1% most deprived in London (in the index of multiple deprivation) and the most deprived area in Islington.
